On May 31st 2005, a public health act, The Sewerage System Regulation, was introduced by the Province of BC.
This new regulation allowed trained and certified individuals to perform septic system design, install, maintenance, and inspections, without major intervention of their local health authorities. Although the local health authorities are still involved with the on-site wastewater activities it is mostly for administrative and enforcement purposes.
Seeing this act as an opportunity to grow his business, Ken completed training programs and became a “Registered On-site Wastewater Practitoner” (ROWP)—becoming one of the first septic professionals registered in the Comox Valley by the Applied Science and Technologists of British Columbia ( ASTTBC).
After becoming certified, Ken changed the of his business to “Mr. Land Clearing & Septic Ltd.,” until June, 2017 when he sold the business.
From 2017 to 2020, Ken continued to be active managing and operating the business for the new owner.
With more than 25 years of septic experience by the time he sold the company, Ken had designed and installed hundreds of residential and commercial sewage disposal systems of all kinds– working with almost every system type and configuration out there.
During all these years of work on systems, Ken recognized the importance of regular septic maintenance and believed providing honest, reliable septic maintenance services represented an opportunity to stay in the industry.
In 2020, Ken opened Septic Pro Maintenance. He and his staff of skilled, experienced, and certified employees serve Central Vancouver Island and adjacent islands.
To help clients adhere to a proper inspection and maintenance schedule, and save money, Septic Pro Maintenance offers maintenance agreements.
Septic Pro is insured and registered with the Workman’s Compensation Board of British Columbia.
In addition to operating Septic Pro Maintenance, Ken is the exclusive supplier of Rocky Tops, faux rocks to cover septic tank lids and for use in a variety of landscaping applications. Check out RockyTops.ca.
